Every season the colors of the season change, and these colors are worn and varied throughout the year. For this year there are 4 different colors that have been included into everyone’s wardrobe. The main colors are red, grey, brown, and yellow. As a fashion student these colors are included in my wardrobe, except for yellow. However yellow is a color that can be varied throughout multiple seasons. https://lookiero.co.uk/blog/5-colours-autumn-winter-2023-24/
Sustainable Fur
This company is called Levinsky, they contain a certain winter apparel that is sustainable and eco-friendly.
This appeal can last a buyer up to 30 years. They can be passed down to generations, instead of spending money on multiple items for the winter. The extra fabric that remains unused after the mink coat is made, is used to create pillows, blankets or other accessories. In the end the fur will ultimately biodegrade and return to the soil overtime while preventing harm towards any part of nature. This jacket is called the outer known it ranges from 342 to 550. This company creates sweaters and lighter jackets for the winter using sustainable items. They have a variety within men’s and women’s wear clothing. They include multiple recycled materials such as “(polyester, nylon, polyamide cotton, and wool), TENCEL™ Lyocell, regular wool, cupro, and RDS-certified down.”
Black Friday
Black Friday sales is something that people all over the world look forward to. However I came across a website that is called the “Fashion Revolution.” These people believe Black Friday is a waste and must babe stopped due to the effects of overproduction. Customers are mindlessly purchasing an insufficient amount of items that turn into waste overtime. Cyber Monday is also part of this, and the overconsumption will not stop when items are lowered to a more affordable price that causes bulk unnecessary shopping.
Fashion Facts
In this blog I wanted to share 3 random facts about my dream career or working in the fashion industry. There are many things behind the scenes that people do not know about when it comes to the world of fashion.
Fact 1: “One in three young women, the biggest segment of consumers, consider garments worn once or twice to be old.” I agree with this fact because, as a female for certain events I would rather buy a new outfit instead of reusing one. It may just be the feeling of shopping for an occasion that us females find exciting.
Fact 2: “The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of annual global carbon emissions.” “These high quantities of carbon dioxide come as a result of agricultural practices, processing techniques and transportation. Conventional cotton – one of the most widely used fabrics greatly contributes to carbon emissions.” This a prime example as to why sustainable fashion is important for the environment.
Fact 3: “The world uses an estimated 80 billion pieces of clothing every year, a 400 percent increase from two decades ago” Now that clothing stores have big sale selections, it’s easier to purchase more pieces of clothing at a time. Knowing that fast fashion has given us to opportunity to buy clothes more often, it leads to unnecessary shopping with the attitude of “we will buy more within the same month.”
Fashion & Self Esteem
Wearing unique outfits and designs that are created by hand could be extremely meaningful to the model. These different outfits that aren’t usually found in stores help build confidence and self esteem. Fashion helps people express themselves just through the style of the clothing or even the different fabrics that are added to make that one masterpiece.
Now here is an image of me modeling for a designer in WCC that created an outfit with a similar color scheme as the one above. This outfit boosted my self esteem, as you can see in the photo I am smiling and the crowd behind me is also very intrigued. This unique piece of upcycled fabrics had a great impact on myself and the people watching the fashion show as well.

Photoshop
This semester is my second time using photoshop in a class to edit images and create new ideas. It is a tricky website to get used to but throughout the last two semesters I have realized this platform can help all artists to build on their creativity. I recently learned how to touch up a damaged photo using photoshop. The tools I used were the Healing Brush and Neutral Filters. Within the filters was different categories called Photo Enhancement, Enhance Face, and Scratch Reduction. Get Started with Photoshop and see where your creativity takes you! (Link Down Below)
H&M Supporting Recycling in the Fashion Industry
Many people do not know which companies support recycling and up cycling in the fashion industry. I recently found out that H&M supports these ideas and believe in recycling clothing. This company contains many different style clothing pieces that a variety of people buy from. It is important to recycle clothes and re-use items to create new designs and outfits. In this post I wanted to share a video that H&M released as an AD that immediately caught my attention.
The title of this video is “H&M Conscious: Sustainable fashion through recycled clothes” Continue Here to see the video: https://youtu.be/s4xnyr2mCuI?si=Y0YE5DsuZ9eF6dzP
